ABOUT THE ROLE

Our External Affairs Department fosters strong relationships and engages with the community, media, parents/caretakers, students, and stakeholders. We’re on the hunt for a Communications Coordinator to develop creative content that increases awareness of DC PCSB, effectively communicates the role and value of public charter schools, and our work to create policies and conditions that allow teachers and administrators to educate students. As our communications coordinator, you’re integral to crafting compelling narratives and disseminating our message across various platforms, ensuring our voice is consistent, vibrant, and engaging.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, you possess a ‘can-do’ spirit, are organized, and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.

An innovative storyteller, you’ll write blog posts, create graphics, develop content for our monthly electronic newsletter and social media, update and organize media and email distribution lists, and collaborate with the members of the External Affairs Department. You will help draft memos and presentations for conferences, such as the National Association of Charter School Authorizers (NACSA) conference, and coordinate/staff special events. Additionally, every year, you’ll support the production of our annual report and assist with coordinating and organizing the content pieces for this publication.

You’ll collaborate with members of the entire organization to ensure our brand is consistent across platforms while staying current on national and local education news.

Competencies and Qualifications

You can manage multiple tasks; you’re organized, driven, and creative. You have demonstrated experience writing for diverse audiences across different mediums. You desire to learn more about education and public charter schools, and you’re a team player who takes initiative to make things happen. You pay attention to every detail and value building solid relationships to collaborate fully on projects.
