ABOUT THE DC PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL BOARD (DC PCSB)

Every day, we’re doing the work to ensure that 44,000+ public charter school students, families, and communities receive a quality education that makes them feel valued and prepared for lifelong learning, fulfilling careers, and economic security. DC PCSB is an independent agency of the District of Columbia government. Our mission, vision, values, and work are rooted in the principle of ensuring that every DC student has access to a quality education.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will serve as a key contributor and technical resource, supporting the Director and the broader team in implementing academic accountability work across DC public charter schools. You will help bridge the gap between complex academic data and the real-world context of school leadership by supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of rigorous, fair, and mission-aligned academic accountability goals and systems.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Negotiation & Strategy: Support the charter goals development and revision process with school leaders by helping ensure measures are rigorous, aligned, and reflective of unique school models (e.g., Adult Ed, Alternative, or Early Childhood).
  • Policy Implementation: Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of the Charter Goals Policy and support alignment with DC PCSB’s academic accountability system, ASPIRE.
  • Project Management: Coordinate and support cross-functional projects related to academic accountability, charter goals implementation, policy rollout, and portfolio initiatives by tracking timelines, organizing stakeholder communication, monitoring deliverables, and supporting successful execution aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide guidance and technical support to school leaders regarding academic data interpretation, accountability expectations, and charter goals processes throughout the goals lifecycle
  • Report Development & Review: Contribute to the drafting, analysis, and review of charter review and renewal reports by developing technical content, synthesizing findings, and supporting quality assurance efforts to ensure consistency and accuracy across deliverables.
  • Evidence Synthesis: Compile and synthesize multi-year academic performance data into clear summaries, findings, and supporting documentation for internal and Board-facing recommendations.
  • School Performance Data Analysis: Analyze academic performance datasets to support the implementation and refinement of assessment methodologies and accountability tools. Interpret business rules, review growth metrics, and contribute to accurate, data-informed evaluations of school performance and long-term viability. Experience with commonly used data visualization, scripting, and/or transformation tools is preferred.
  • Technical Liason: Communicate with school leaders regarding testing results, performance ratings, and accountability framework expectations by translating technical information into clear, actionable guidance.
  • Strategic Coordination: Identify potential concerns or trends in school performance data and collaborate with internal departments (Finance, Equity, Legal, etc.) to support appropriate follow-up, monitoring, or intervention planning.
